Baseline blood tests

Prior to initiating hormonal treatment you are required to have baseline blood tests done, which is most helpful to have done in the weeks before your initial appointment. You will be informed of this by letter prior to your appointment date.

The screening blood tests include:

  • Liver function tests and Gamma GT
  • Lipid profile
  • Vitamin D
  • Fasting blood sugar and Hba1c
  • FSH
  • LH
  • Prolactin
  • SHBG
  • Testosterone
  • Oestradiol
  • FBC (for those assigned female at birth only)
  • PSA (for those assigned male at birth only)
  • Renal profile (for those taking spironolactone only)

If you were assigned female at birth please have the above blood tests done ideally between 2-8 days after the menstrual period starts. If this is not possible due to irregular or absent periods then the bloods can be done at any time.

Please bring these results to your first appointment or if they have been requested during an appointment please email our Endocrine Team.
